Background

G20杭州峰会2017年在美丽的西湖之城杭州举行。我们需要给参会各国领导人和相关人员准备一份杭州导览,借此机会传播杭州的城市形象。
G20 (Group of Twenty) Hangzhou Summit was held in the picturesque Hangzhou, a city famed for its West Lake, in 2017. We were commissioned to design a city guide for world leaders attending the meeting and their entourage in order to promote the city’s image.

Requirements

首先是一份杭州城市形象外宣品;其次是一份面向G20峰会正式代表、嘉宾以及媒体记者发放的会议资料;同时还是一份“杭州导览”,是了解杭州的一把钥匙,一张引导国际嘉宾找到各自满意的采访点、体验点、考察点的地图。
The city guide has to serve three purposes: to promote the host city; to accompany conference materials distributed to G20 Summit representatives, VIPs and the press; and to serve as a travel guide and a map for international guests to get to know the city and find ideal locations to visit and experience.

Challenges

本书以历史与现实交汇为总体脉络,立足杭州特色和国际视野,以习近平总书记在安塔利亚峰会和接任二十国集团主席国时的致辞精神为总纲。用世界语言展现东方与西方、文化与经济、时尚与传统、生活与创业交汇融合的杭州城市品质,向世界呈现一份别样的精彩,展示杭州历史和现实交汇的独特韵味。
The brochure needs to represent Hangzhou in all her historical and modern glory, celebrating her local roots as well as its open and international mentality. Guided by speeches that President Xi Jinping made in the G20 Antalya Summit, the design needs to express Hangzhou as a city where the East and the West, culture and economy, fashion and tradition, leisure and career fuse into her unique glamour.

Solution 

我们的设计出发点基于杭州本身是一座融合了千年历史文化以及现代国际化的水城,着力于其‘独特’与‘韵味’二字,通过十个来自杭州不同角度的篇章,以图片,文字,插图相结合的形式阐述了一本彰显杭州历史与现实交融独特魅力的画册。
Our design stems from the fact that Hangzhou is a “city of water” that embraces both history and modernity, and try to convey its uniqueness and charm by presenting her from ten viewpoints in form of chapters enriched with beautiful photos, prose and illustrations.
